Provider Access Programs - Non-insurance health care plans that work
As out-of-pocket health care expenses increase and insurance premiums continue to rise, and with more and more people being denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions, the need for an affordable alternative to traditional managed health care has never been greater. PPO access programs are becoming the way many uninsured Americans are getting the health care they need.
Provider access programs enable their members to access specific preferred provider networks at contracted rates, or at discounted rates. Provider access programs are not health insurance. The member is responsible for paying the entire amount of the bill at the time of service. Actual savings across all 7,500 CPT rev4 medical procedures using provider access programs averages about 40% in the State of California. There are no underwriting requirements, no deductibles, no annual maximums, no claim forms, and no one is ever denied because of pre-existing conditions.
The monthly program membership fees vary in price depending upon the type of services in the plan, and whether the plan is for a single person, a couple, or a family. The monthly membership fees for medical plans range from $29.95 per family for a basic plan to $59.95 per month for a comprehensive plan for your entire household.
Programs from different areas contract with different PPO networks. Fee schedules vary from program to program. It is important to determine if your doctor, practitioner, and dentist are in the network(s) of the PPO access program you are considering. To do this, go to the program's web site and do a provider search using the names of your doctors, health practitioners, and dentist that you would like to see. Then, contact the member services of the plan and they will contact the providers directly, and verify that they will accept the membership program with its fee schedule. They will then set the appointment for you. Many health care providers will accept these membership program cards and their fee schedules, and many will not.
